For election nerds this evening primaries should be a lot of fun. I direct your attention to the early voting results in the great state of Mississippi and the race for the United States Senate seat.
A local newspaper has run the available numbers and estimated a slight advantage for Senator Thad Cochran. For some reason the secretary of state's office can't break out the number of people that voted early in the Democratic party primary, so that probably increases the error factor but the result leaves some hope for Cochran.
I am conflicted regarding this race. I wish that I had faith that the general population of Mississippi would reject Mcdonald and vote for a Democrat in November but that doesn't seem likely.

On a lighter note popcorn sales should increase while we all wait to see if Tancredo and his crazy supporters can win the Republican primary. This is the McCaskill plan of picking your crazy opponent and sit back and watch him set the tone for the party nationally.
