Thomas Jefferson said, "The trick is not in getting what you want but in wanting it after you get it." Still want the job John?
Speaker of the House; Third in line to assume the Presidency; consistently battered and bruised by members of the Grand Old Party; shameful failure of leadership. On the day The Speaker assumed his "dream come true" job, the world witnessed the first public display of an inconsequential leader dissolving into tears, not only making a mockery of his position but both Chambers of Congress. I'd cry too John.
His failure as a leader was evidenced with the power grab of the newly elected Tea Party members in 2010. He and his myopic colleagues did not see what the rest of us saw. Party loyalty and respect for leadership are long gone. Can we forget the ambitious, newly elected Senator Cruz of Texas, marching unannounced into the Speaker's House, inviting 14 freshly elected, inexperienced members to dine with him at one of DC's most popular and visible Mexican restaurants? Isn't that called a "coup" in other countries?
Can we erase the image of Republican members of the House of Representatives reading the Constitution of the United States aloud in some show of pride, but more to highlight every "mistake" our President allegedly made? Does Speaker Boehner actually understand the big words in that beautiful document? Hasn't he learned that he is no match for President Barack Obama?
Oh, by the way, please know that I am a registered Republican. There are more of us than you can imagine who still get it.
