In Colorado you can bring a concealed handgun onto university campuses. A ballot initiative to end campus carry, that already had enough votes to get on the ballot has been dropped by Safe Campus Colorado. A spokesperson said, and I quote
"It's not a dead issue. It's just for this election cycle, we made the really difficult decision that having the issue on the November ballot would likely have it be caught up in candidate campaigns and become a political football."

Translation. Putting this on the ballot might well lose us the governorship and both houses.
It's been quite a couple of weeks here in CO.
First governor Hickenlooper in unprepared remarks to a meeting of sheriff's departments from the state, seemed to say what a dumb idea the magazine capacity law was and how the only reason he voted for it was because an aide promised someone he would and besides he never thought it would pass and if he knew then what he knows now (that there are three hundred thousand large capacity magazines in the state anyway) he would have seen things differently. Apology at about the 7 min mark.
All that would have been well and good but he walked it all back, saying he'd sign it again, and wouldn't give an interview to the state's leading newspaper. http://www.denverpost.com/... So now he has everyone pissed at him and says he'd of spoken diferently if he'd of known he was being recorded. Oh, and fibbed about talking to Bloomberg, probably unintentionally.
He's been an ok governor, and I sure do want him reelected, warts and all. Besides all that pulling all the gun advocates to the polls would be a not good thing for the tight senate race Udall is in.
I'm not sure what damage a loss of the governor and one or both sides or our house would cause. Maybe I'd have to take a peek at Kansas. Our brand of rightwingishness seems to be closest to our eastern border, same accent anyway. On the bright side Colorado re elects sitting governors, the Republican candidates are not only right wing but even worse, boring.
Zero arrests with our great magazine capacity limiting law. Quite some victory. Upheld by the courts yesterday too.
At least the snowpack is high and it's been a wet spring.
