Natasha Marcus, Candidate for NC House, District 98
Since Thom Tillis had to give up his seat in the North Carolina House (along with his Speakership), District 98 of the North Carolina House is open. That's great news all by itself. The better news is we have a great candidate running to turn that seat blue. Her name is
Natasha Marcus.
Many of you may wonder about how good is her chance? Part of her district is made up of the Town of Davidson (Home to Davidson College). It's hard to walk down the streets of Davidson and not see Obama/Biden bumperstickers. The rest of the district is made up of the town of Cornelius (which is loaded with transplants from the Northeast and Midwest) and the northern most part of the town of Huntersville (also containing quite a few transplants). So in my lay opinion, the chances are high. All she needs is visibility and she's working hard on that part.

As a Tarheel I told Natasha she could be forgiven for being a Dookie.
Natasha's opponent was hand-picked by Thom Tillis to replace him. I'll not mention his name here and give him any unnecessary exposure. I'll just say he currently sits on the Town Council of Cornelius and assumes he's gonna walk into the seat because he thinks no one's paying attention.

What I Believe
After decades of progress and planning, North Carolina established our State’s reputation as a leader in the South. Sadly, we went backwards in 2013. The North Carolina General Assembly did not represent the diverse, compassionate, moderate people of our state. Instead, they passed a slate of extreme, regressive laws that restrict our freedoms and threaten North Carolina's future.
We can fix that - starting now. The 2014 election is critical to ensuring that North Carolina reclaim its stellar reputation and welcoming environment.
If elected, my priorities will be to:
Preserve citizens' fundamental rights
Support public education & respect teachers
Promote small businesses
Build healthy, safe, inclusive communities
Protect the environment
Encourage economic growth & job creation
Restore our State's positive reputation
I seek to be your representative in the NC House in order to bring balance back to Raleigh. Right now, there are only 29 women in the NC House, which is less than one-quarter of the House membership. In addition, one party controls both chambers by such wide majorities that it need not compromise or even consult with those who hold differing views. We need to fix that imbalance by electing more women and more people who are looking out for the middle class, public education, small business owners, women’s rights, voting rights, and the safety of our water, air and soil.
I will be dedicated to these priorities and help bring balance back to Raleigh.

A QUICK NOTE FROM ME
Natasha may or may not show up here today. Her schedule was set long before I told her I was posting this today. There may or may not be a staffer showing up. Again, their schedule was set before I told them I was posting this today. They thanked me for taking my time to post about Natasha and apologized about their inability to say whether or not she or someone could show up today. You may also notice that Natasha just recently registered here at DK. She like many has been an on again off again lurker for years. Let's all give her a hearty DK welcome.
Only for today I'll also not post the MF Guidelines and goals.
