Usually, the loser of a party's primary backs the winner, and encourages his or her supporters to work for the nominee. Apparently, this is not going to happen in Mississippi. According to CNN:
More than a week after results declared his defeat, the tea party-backed candidate in Mississippi's GOP primary for the U.S. Senate notified Sen. Thad Cochran on Thursday that he plans to challenge the outcome.
State Sen. Chris McDaniel's campaign served papers to Cochran's son, Clayton, with notice of intent to challenge the results . . . The challenge was filed with the state Republican Party executive committee, as required by law, the Clarion-Ledger reported, and an official court challenge could come as early as next week.
Campaign staffers and 150 volunteers have already combed through voting records in 51 counties and claim to have identified nearly 5,000 "irregularities," which are mostly tied to people who were ineligible to vote in the state's June 24 runoff election, McDaniel campaign spokesman Noel Fritsch said.

This very public fight in Mississippi between McDaniel and Cochran will only serve to further drive a wedge between the Tea Party Republicans and the Republican Party Establishment.
With any luck the end result of this fight will be the Tea Party leaving the Republican Party and creating a third party. Or maybe they will decide to just stay home in order to send a message to the Republican Party. Either one of these will be good for the Democratic Party in Mississippi.
In any event, one thing is clear, the show is not over yet. Grab your popcorn and enjoy the show.
