Received this e-mail today from Senator Mark Udall (D. CO):
For many Coloradans, Rocky Flats is known as a large wildlife refuge just outside of Arvada. But decades ago, it was a nuclear production facility where thousands of brave Coloradans risked their health to protect our country during the Cold War.
Although the facility is closed today, thousands of Rocky Flats workers still require medical care from the regular exposure to radiation they received by working with nuclear weapons. Despite their hard work and sacrifice to keep our country safe, these men and women are now being forced to fight through red tape and burdensome bureaucracy just to get the medical care that their sacrifice deserves.
Jared Polis
The federal government promised to take care of Rocky Flats workers, and it must make good on that pledge. That’s why I teamed up with Congressman Ed Perlmutter and Congressman Jared Polis to force the federal government to make good on its promise and right this wrong.

Last year our decade-long effort finally prevailed, and the Obama administration granted Rocky Flats workers from before 1983 a special status allowing their casework to be fast-tracked so they could receive the care they earned.
Ed Perlmutter
As we continue working to make sure that these Americans receive the care they deserve, Congressman Ed Perlmutter and I are once again joining together to thank the former Rocky Flats workers for their service to this country. Will you join us in commending these brave Coloradans and join our pledge to never forget their service to our country?
