I know I make errors, grammatical, spellling, even logical missteps. But I am not running a national TV station, nor do I run a national blog or inter tube site.
Also interestingly, most noticeable journalistic acts of violence involved human acts of violence.
Channel 9 News:
"Last night, at 9:00pm, an unnamed man took out a hammer and attacked two female joggers in broad daylight."
at night in broad daylight. Let me ponder that mess for a bit.
The Raw Story:
Discussing how an 12 year old teen made up an alleged drive by shooting, to cover up the fact that he shot his younger brother in the face,
"Police said the gun had been stolen from Wyoming in 2010, but the did not say how the boy gained access to it."
Wyoming had its gun stolen? Did Wyoming call the police? Fill out the report? Did Wyoming only have the one?
From HuffPo, in the last week spellling errors, grammatical mistakes, and participles so well hung they could start their own porn industry. CNN, MSNBC, and others also were guilty of pretty embarrassing errors, although it took ABC News to really hit the gutter, calling a video of Palestinians picking their way through their bombed out home, "Israelis."
More below the Flying Orange Spaghetti Emblem:
I realize that speed is of the essence in our modern society. But the errors are increasing in number, and the mistakes are becoming more ineffably stupid.
One obvious suspect is our current crap of Journalism Schools. While a few (Notably Medill @ Northwestern) take spelling, usage, and all parts of grammar seriously, too many others seem to be concentrating on, well, SALAD MAKING?
"the enemy of America’s economic freedom is this fundamental transformation of America the enemy of the enemy is my friend is any common sense conservative’s friend so we do have to consider a politician’s record truly what it is they intend to do to stop this fundamental transformation and this stripping away of our economic freedom and those who can’t stand strong to defend our republic to defend our constitution heck yeah they gotta be primaried otherwise we’re going down."
Or this:
"The plan is to allow those things that had been proposed over many years to reform a health-care system in America that certainly does need more help so that there’s more competition, there’s less tort reform threat, there’s less, um, trajectory of the cost increases, and those plans have been proposed over and over again. And what thwarts those plans, it’s the far left, it’s President Obama and his supporters who will not allow the Republicans to usher in free market, patient-centered, doctor patient relationship links to reform health care."
Or better yet, this:
My decision maintains this order. My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office -- from the nation's governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. . . . We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the 'fundamental transformation' of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.
Finally, this product of FIVE JOURNALISM SKULES!:
I think if you ask that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the people of America are not fully satisfied with all the answers. It's going to be considered also. But again, it's got to put government and it's about putting government back on the verbiage that Senator McCain chose to use them. So we have opportunities for good in the war. You can't blink. You have to be allowed in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be provided the hope that all Americans have, instilled in us, because we're a democratic, we are today with so much collapse on Wall Street, affecting Main Street.
