It's unfortunate that this must happen to them in order to live for their
own benefit. When will republicans get a heart?
It's a tough choice to make in an effort to get the benefits needed in
order to survive. It will be happening more as the Boomers age and
wind up with Alzheimers and other major illnesses. In the State of NJ
for instance, If you make more than $1400 a year (yes a year), you
make too much to qualify for medicaid.and depending on
circumstances it can be as little as making $300/ year to disqualify
you.
This is very wrong but it's happening thanks to conservative law makers and
governors who blame the sick, injured and impoverished for their own
circumstances. Never mind that accidents, illness and disability
happens all the time in all socio-economic groups.
If you read the qualifications for SSI, it takes HOUSEHOLD income
into account. So if your relatives who make a fairly decent wage take
you in, it automatically disqualifies you for SSI even though they are
not responsible for your medical, healthcare, food, clothing and other
necessities.
