This is terribly distressing and conservative Republicans are in a real pickle now. Erick Erickson of RedState fame CONFIRMS that Senate Republican leadership put up a bunch of money to help Thad Cochran defeat Chris McDaniel a couple weeks ago.
In case you don't want to go there: Erick son of Erick states:
I can confirm that the attack ads in Mississippi run by “All Citizens for Mississippi” were funded by Senate Republicans, including Senators Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, Rob Portman, Bob Corker, and Roy Blunt. It appears our Senate Republican leaders are willing to risk losing a Senate majority so long as they can get their own re-elected. Yes folks, it is true. I can confirm what we all suspected.
The problem is: What is a conservative Republican to do this November?
A little background before I get to the delicious comments. RedState characterizes itself as being conservative in every respect, especially socially conservative. For example, they have a regular column dedicated to reading the Bible over the period of a year.
Erickson's mantra is: Most conservative candidate in the primary elections and always Republican in the general election. But there has always been an undercurrent among VERY dissatisfied RedStaters, that they are being abused by establishment Republicans. They are very certain that they are providing most of the votes while rarely getting anything for their trouble (like Roe v. Wade overturned with a constitutional amendment). They are chomping at the bit to teach the establishment RINO's a lesson. Diaries declaring that they are not going to vote in the general election are a regular thing there. I even wrote one of them myself.
It was highly anticipated that the teabagger McDaniel was going to take down the establishment RINO octogenarian Cochran. This, in addition to the epic cancellation of Cantor, was to be 2014's crowning achievement, with the return of the Senate to the Republican Party a foregone conclusion.
In the aftermath of Cochran's unforeseen 11th hour win on June 24, Redstate cretins began a long series of diaries detailing what had happened, with hints of establishment Republicans having played a role in getting BLACKS to come out and vote for Cochran. In MS, and largely on RedState, you don't even need to attach the word "Democrat" to the word "Blacks" because they are completely redundant. "Welfare recipient" is almost as equally assumed. The charge was commonly made that THEY voted for Cochran because he brought home the (welfare) goodies to the state (and even that they were PAID to vote for Cochran).
As an aside: Who knew that the only thing we needed to do was send our AA members to vote in their primaries to destroy the Republican Party?
So, EE's announcement today, confirming that the Republican Senatorial leadership was heavily involved in the June 24th subterfuge is unleashing a torrent of high-strung anti-establishment verbiage.

if conservatives and tea party activists allow thad cochran to win in november, they will become as marginalized as blacks are in the democrat party: told to shut up and vote for whom they are told. we (and i'll use "we" even though i'm in missouri and not mississippi because i am a conservative and tea party supporter) will not be consulted about who our 2016 nominee will be; we will be shut out in developing the 2016 gop platform; we will become the blacks of the republican party. it's not a good place to be and the only way to avoid it is to make sure that thad cochran does not win in november.

Why then, should we support Mitch McConnell so that he can be put in as the new Majority leader if Republicans win the Senate? Chop the head off these traitors to the cause. Dump McConnell!

If RNC wants some semblance of party unity in November, it is going to take some serious nut cutting, like:
1) public denunciation of what Cochroach and Barbour did.
2) blacklisting every consultant involved in any way in Cochroach's campaign.
3) firing Sally Bradshaw and anyone else at RNC with their fingerprints even slightly on this bushwhacking of conservatives.
4) Demanding the resignation of Henry Barbour from RNC, and if he refuses find some way to dismiss him.
5) Announce that Haley Barbour is no longer welcome at RNC functions.
6) Announce a high priority plan to eliminate open primaries which are nothing but sewers for this sort of frauds. States that have open primaries should have their national convention delegations whacked (25% reduction if open primaries for both president and other offices, 15% if just for one) as an incentive to get rid of open primaries
7) Get NRSC out of primaries.
8) support McDaniel's efforts for an honest runoff.

If this gets me uninvited from RedState, then I can accept that; but I can no longer support the "ideology in the primary, party in the general" mantra - not until every last one of the vermin that now run the GOP is eradicated and replaced with people who have even a modicum of character and integrity, and who represent the ideology of the rank-and-file.
This is utterly appalling. The Establishment GOP leadership is dead to me. I cannot and will not support them. The grassroots allowing ourselves to be bent over during the primary, then holding our collective nose to vote in the general, is only getting us killed more slowly.
I don't know what to do. Redouble efforts in the Precinct project? What more can we do?
They are becoming demoralized and are now genuinely bewildered over what they should do in November. They really believe that if they were put in charge of the party, with their conservative principles and values taking center stage, that the nation would rally to them. Such is the mentality in RWNJ world.
