Here we go again — AGAIN.
Back for another round after repeated pummelings, the latest incarnation of this hideous, privacy-destroying give-away to the NSA has lurched its way out of committee, largely written by Diane Feinstein (with a parallel bill in the House by the usual suspects, Rogers & Ruppersberger).
This version continues the trend of being even worse than its predecessors, containing not only broad immunity for illegal NSA spying, but both new spying and new attacks on journalists & whistle-blowers (article from The Hill here).
In response, EFF has joined with 35 other organizations calling on President Obama to issue a veto threat. Meanwhile, you too can help by contacting your Senator & tell him or her to oppose the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2014 (EFF's own action link here). If enough sunlight shines on this, we may be able to prevent Majority Leader Reid from even taking up the bill.
