These words were spoken by Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, President of the N.A.A.C.P. of North Carolina, a person with a vision for all and not just in North Carolina, but everywhere in the Untied States. He is the powerful voice and the strength of the "Moral Monday movement here in North Carolina and is inspirational as a leader for justice and equality for all people. We are fortunate to have such a leader at this time in which our state in the past three has moved toward the path of greed, unethical and immoral legislative policies of filling the pockets of the wealthy on the backs of those that can least afford it. The Tea Bag/Republican Governor McCrory, NC state legislature and senate have erased in three years, 50 years of progressive growth that had made North Carolina the shining jewel of the new South. Jim crow was abolished and the economy was flourishing with a balance of agriculture and technology, and the middle class was, despite the oppressive labor laws, was coming of age. Now, that is all but been erased with cuts to education, the extremist war on women regarding their choices of health and their bodies, to the unfair gerrymandering and voter suppression tactics, the worst in this country. Jim Crow has been welcomed back to this state, thanks to our very "Cafeteria Christian" politicians, and with the help of the Supreme Court. This list goes on about the major disastrous policies that have been place upon this state inspired by the cut and paste bills and dirty tactics of the American Legislative Executive Committee (A.L.E.C.) of which our governor McCrory was the keynote speaker just last week and their annual function in Texas.
Move on down south of the orange "KOS Mason-Dixon" line, for more....
On August 4, 2014 in Asheville North Carolina, the gem of the South and one of the country's progressive cities, there will another Mountain Moral Monday. Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II will be the keynote speaker along with many other notable representatives of faith and political representation. At the last Mountain Moral Monday held in Asheville, attendance was over 10,000 strong in support of getting our state back on track, and correcting our collective moral compass to sail straight for justice for all, once again.
This time we must try to make it tenfold.
I know this is a daunting task, but the more voices and boots we get onto the streets, into the voting booths in November and educated as to what is going on in Raleigh that is not in their best interests, the more power we, the commons who make this country work, will get our state back again.
Do not think that this movement is North Carolina's alone: It isn't.
Look at what has happened around the country in many different states. Wisconsin comes to mind with their struggle against a governor that has ruined that state with his ethically and morally challenged "leadership".
North Carolina is the line in the sand against the Koch brothers, A.L.E.C., the immoral Tea Party, and the self serving greedy for all states.
If you can, please mark your calendars to attend this important rally in Asheville NC on Monday 4, 2014 at Pack Square and join the brothers and sisters of DKos Asheville with your voice for justice and equality for all. The event is scheduled for 5:00 through 6:30 at Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville.
Beforehand, the DKos Asheville brothers ad sisters will get together to meet and attend a late lunch/very early dinner and park nearby the event.
*Please use this diary (or KOS mail me) as a focal point of stating interest to meet up, and also if you wish, to "break bread" with us, the most excellent, brothers and sisters of DKos Asheville.**
As of now, it would be best if all that want to meet beforehand, come to downtown Asheville and park in one of two parking garages on Biltmore Ave. as that is nearest to Pack Square. Come early as parking in Asheville is "challenging" even in normal times, to say the least. I propose that we meet across the street from those garages at a restaurant called "Mamacitas" (http://www.mamacitasgrill.com/). It serves local food and also has excellent vegetarian offerings as well. If you click on the next link you will also note where the restaurant is as well as where the area of the parking garages are I mentioned - Once again, they are almost across the street from this restaurant, and a short walk to Pack Square.

Thank you reading, hope to see as many as can attend, & most importantly... Be safe out there.
Forward Together, Not One Step Back!
