I remember a sermon by my favorite priest where he said that mundane truth is critical to civic and spiritual health because truth is Truth.
President Obama has pledged to hold science over ideology in all of the Inaugural and State of the Union speeches I've heard him make.
This value must apply across the board, it is not just applicable to other parties.
Watching this value being ignored on the matter of e-cigs is breaking my heart, and providing ammunition to opponents. I just saw a story on here (don't know how to get back to it) about how the Koch Brothers are scheming to give the Senate to Republicans in 2014. This year can be a squeaky-close vote and we need every vote we can get. But at the same time, I'm being told, CREDIBLY, that if the Republicans do NOT take over the Senate in 2014, my own party will hand me back to Big Tobacco via the FDA, giving me a 50/50 chance of dying much younger than I should.
Against all science. Against all compassion. Against all common sense. Because it feels good.
In that spirit, I'd like to draw the attention of Daily Kos people to this petition:
https://www.change.org/...
Even though the petition is a little out-of-date regarding California SB648, I want to get it to the Democratic Party headquarters this week because many vapers across the nation are receiving the same form letter from Democratic Senators and Representatives in response to our letters asking for closer scrutiny of the FDA's regulation process.
It is a letter that makes it crystal-clear that our letters were not read, and that the individual Senators and Representatives all got the letter from a central source. As a 40-year Democrat, this feels like a betrayal.
