Hey here's an idea that just struck me. I suppose someone has already thought of this, but I haven't read it, so I'll write it down. It's probably a stupid idea. Tell me why it wouldn't work, please.
What if we got signatures together to place a corporation on the Republican primary ballot for something?
Here's what I think we could do.
First, pick a state with open primaries. File the proper paperwork to form a corporation in said state. For this discussion, call it Company Z.
Identify a politician of high visibility and national identity that is otherwise unopposed for nomination in the Republican Party and who is certain to win in the general election. Or perhaps even better, find someone who is opposed by a Tea Party guy so that they are likely to split the Republican vote.
Go out and collect signatures from people to place Company Z on the ballot opposing the Republican identified above. Collect the signatures from Democrats and let them in on the plan.
File the signatures properly. Simultaneously announce the candidacy of the corporation for the position.
Urge Democrats to vote in the primary for said corporate candidate. Publicly announce that anyone that doesn't believe corporations are people should come out and vote for the company in this primary to show their support for a constitutional amendment to declare that companies are NOT people.
Let the Republicans decry the tactic and declare that companies are not people.
Just think of the hilarity that would ensue if Company Z actually won.
The floor is yours. Anyone have any suggestions for where to do this?
