That wave is looking Blue to me
With all the talk about an "enthusiasm gap" a new poll indicates Republican voters are suffering from huge "satisfaction gap" with their own representatives in congress. As the Republican Party has become a magnet for he Mean, the Bigoted and the Stupid it shouldn't be a surprise to see that it has also become the Party of the Self-Loathing. Take note of this Pew Poll just in case the "Wave Election" optimistically predicted with zero
evidence, by (mostly prepaid) GOP media-mouths, proves instead to be a Blue Wave. No rose colored glasses here, this is statistically valid proof that while Red voters are in a "Kick the bums out" mood, they really don't like their own incumbent GOP bums.
Dems seem to like their Blue incumbent by a whopping 12% more than Republicans who give their representatives an underwater approval of 44%. Pew's take:
As expected, voters who live in districts currently represented by a member of the party they plan to vote for in the fall have more positive ratings of their lawmakers than do other voters in that district.
However, even among Republican voters who live in GOP-represented districts, fewer than half (44%) approve of the job their own member of Congress is doing. A majority (56%) of Democratic voters in Democratic districts approve of the job performance of their representative.
The knee jerk reaction might be to think Tea Partiers generally think their congressman is not conservative enough but look at that last line more closely: "Cares more about their political party than interests than interests of the country" racks up 50% of the Republican respondents in Red districts versus only 42% of Dems in Blue districts. This would lean towards the notion that the more lucid registered Republicans are getting tired of being the Party of No.
Yes, Republican voters may still have a (diminished from 2010) voter enthusiasm edge over Democrats but those enthusiastic voters don't seem to be too enthusiastic about their candidates in Novembers election.
Please go to this Pew poll, there is a ton of good stuff here but I'll leave you with this.
Americans see the 113th Congress as one of the least productive in almost 20 years. The share who say that this Congress accomplished less than its recent predecessors stands at 55%, up from 33% in 2010 and 43% in 2006.
And who do they blame for this FAILURE?
That wave is looking Blue to me.
