Received this e-mail today from former President Bill Clinton in support of Alison Lundergan Grimes' (D. KY) U.S. Senate campaign:
The best part about no longer running for office is that I can say exactly what I think. Here’s the truth: I have no problem making a choice in the race to be Kentucky’s U.S. Senator—Alison Lundergan Grimes should win and will win with your help.
We live in a crazy time because politics is so dominated by big money. This is a practical problem because what works in an election is exactly the reverse of what works when the election is over.
Instead of a contest to see who can put out the most attack ads, elections should be decided by a single question: who do you want looking out for you? Do you want a Senator who will put people first, one that will deliver solutions and rebuild the middle class? Or should we stay with this model of constant conflict that generates unlimited amounts of special interest money to keep people stuck in ideological gridlock?
I want someone like Alison fighting for us in Washington, and I’m asking you to help me by doing everything you can to send her there.
Will you donate $5 to help Alison hit her fundraising goal before the deadline?

Because I am a policy wonk, I’ve read Alison's jobs plan, and I recommend that you do too.
The thing I like about Alison’s plan is that it’s practical. Alison’s got ideas that will actually get Kentucky, and our country, back to work. Now, that may not make a juicy 30-second ad and it doesn't have to do with cutting down her opponent, but it will make a big difference to folks here in Kentucky and millions of other Americans who can't find a good job or a fair wage.
Alison’s got the right plan, but that’s not going to stop the Kentucky airwaves from being bombarded with whatever the heck these crazy groups are going to say about her come Election Day.
There's a reason all these groups spend all this money on negative advertising: it works. Folks see the ads and get discouraged. They stay home instead because they believe they can’t make a difference.
We can’t afford to let that happen. It makes a big difference who will win this election. We need Alison in Washington and she needs our help.
Give $5 now to join me in supporting Alison.

Thank you Kentucky,
Bill Clinton
P.S. Clinton will be stopping by Kentucky soon to campaign for Grimes:

Clinton is planning his second stop in the state on Aug. 6, Grimes’ campaign confirmed to The Hill, at an undisclosed event in eastern Kentucky.
“We are humbled by President Clinton's continued commitment to our campaign and the hardworking people of Kentucky," Grimes campaign manager Jonathan Hurst said Saturday. "The President shares Alison's vision for a strong middle class, and his support in electing Alison, a champion for working families, to the U.S. Senate is invaluable.”
Clinton last visited the state in February, headlining a fundraiser for Grimes that brought in more than $600,000 for Grimes’ campaign against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R). - The Hill, 7/28/14
But lets not wait until then. Lets help keep Grimes' campaign well fueled and ready to go:
