If, as the government of Israel claims, Hamas is deliberately causing hostilities that result in the deaths of innocents in order to use those deaths for propaganda purposes, then why does Israel's military attack places in Gaza where, no matter how well-intentioned and no matter how many precautions are taken, it is inevitable there will be deaths of civilians, of innocents, from Israeli weapons? In other words, if this is Hamas' aim, why do you assist Hamas is its purported goals? Riddle me that.
Too many innocents are dying from Israeli weapons.
JABALIYA, Gaza Strip — The strikes came in rapid succession. Around 5 a.m. Wednesday at a United Nations school at the Jabaliya refugee camp, where 3,300 Palestinians had taken refuge from the fierce fighting in their Gaza neighborhoods, what appeared to be four Israeli artillery shells hit the compound.
One hit the street in front of the entrance, according to several witnesses. Two others hit classrooms where people were sleeping, and a fourth struck a house behind the school.
Palestinian health officials said at least 20 people were killed by what witnesses and United Nations officials said was the latest in a series of strikes on United Nations facilities that are supposed to be safe zones in the 23-day-old battle between Israel and Hamas and other militants.
NY Times: Israeli Shells Said to Hit Shelter at Gaza U.N. School
The United States condemns the shelling of a UNRWA school in Gaza, which reportedly killed and injured innocent Palestinians – including children – and UN humanitarian workers.
"We are extremely concerned that thousands of internally displaced Palestinians who have been called on by the Israeli military to evacuate their homes are not safe in UN designated shelters in Gaza. We also condemn those responsible for hiding weapons in United Nations facilities in Gaza. All of these actions, and similar ones earlier in the conflict, are inconsistent with the UN’s neutrality. This violence underscores the need to achieve a cease-fire as soon as possible.”
