I just moved about a month ago. Still stuck in the same economically dead county and same stupid state, of course. But it was a move nonetheless. I've been digitizing some old VHS tapes and photos for a relative to keep busy, but no job prospects.
I guess moving to another area might help, and it's only been a month, but it's very difficult to keep one's head up when the only thing that's available almost anywhere is shit jobs for shittier wages with no way for workers to defend themselves or lift themselves out of poverty.
I still haven't heard anything from my new employment 'vendor', so I'm not sure where to go from here. I could apply for job after job and the response will always be the same: "We want more experience", "We want more certifications", "We want more education", "You're asking for too much pay", "It's not what you can do, it's who you know", etc.
I suppose since I have disabilities and I have virtually no options, I should just get on my knees and beg. That's how the Scrooge class would love to see people like us anyway. Meanwhile, the Scrooge class will continue repeating the lie that they can't afford to pay liveable wages or provide decent health and other benefits while funneling all the gains to their own pockets.
See you around,
Homer
