Mayday PAC's mission is to fight the power of big corporate and special interests buying politicians by backing candidates who have a commitment to campaign finance reform. The PAC wants to show that citizen funding can make a difference and will choose five Democratic House and Senate races for nominees that support reform and back them with citizen-funded dollars. Here's where you come in: Fill out a short form nominating WA-08 and tell them why Jason is the good guy who deserves backing. Anyone can nominate Jason, not just residents of the district.
The incumbent Dave Reichert is closing in on a $1 million in funding, and as expected, most of his money is from GOP PACs and large corporations, including VA Republican Rep. Eric Cantor’s PAC, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Boeing. Jason does support reform and believes that dysfunction in government is caused by the money-backed influence of corporations and the top few wealthiest individuals. He's a progressive on all the issues and Reichert votes Tea Party. There couldn't be a race that fits more with the Mayday PAC mission. Jason is running a strong, hard campaign even though he has been outraised over 7 to 1. Backing by this PAC would make a HUGE difference to his campaign.
In addition to supporting Jason by nominating him to Mayday PAC, please join me and donate to his campaign. Now is the time to make an impact with contributions. The primary is Tuesday and then 3 months to the general election. Reichert just voted to sue the President before he went home on vacation. He enables the Tea Party. My budget to donate is usually $3 to $5, but just like our votes, all of our dollars together are mighty! Donate and join with me to turn WA-08 BLUE!
I was just getting ready to take a break before I posted and saw this: GOPer Rep King: If Obama Moves Alone On Immigration, Then Impeachment Could Be On The Table. POTUS is sued because of overreach, then the GOP can't pass a bill to handle the border crisis, POTUS says money has to be switched now, it's running out. Boehner tells the President to do it himself and now King says Pres Obama would be impeached for taking action.
We have got to vote the GOP out!
Find out how to nominate Jason Ritchie for the win below the fold.
Use this easy form, Suggest a Candidate, and let them know why Jason should be selected. I've summarized some information below.
They want the candidate to have a path to victory:
1) This district is ready to turn blue, but it will take effort to change the momentum of a 5-term incumbent. WA-08 is R+1, won by President Obama in 2008 and 2012. Last October during the GOP shutdown a PPP poll showed the incumbent GOPer Dave Reichert with underwater approvals of 32-47.
2) Jason and the Ritchie team are running a smart, strong campaign. He takes a progressive stance and is making his voice heard: He writes for Huffington Post politics, had an impressive reddit Q&A session and speaks to residents at meet and greets almost every Saturday.
3) Jason has picked up endorsements from unions and almost all of the Democratic organizations, politicians and Democratic supporting organizations in Washington.
4) Grassroots meets technology: He has an enthusiastic, energetic team working with him to GOTV on phone banks and door-to-door contact. The Ritchie team is highlighted in an AdAge article about training in the latest data and technology platforms the Democratic party organization says will be key to 2014 midterm success.
Mayday PAC wants a candidate that believes in campaign finance reform and will work for it. Jason is our man. He says:
The Truth about Politics
....The result of these decisions [SCOTU] is that money has become the criteria for who makes it as an elected official. Politicians are rewarded not for their ability to govern, but their ability to fundraise. Instead of listening to the people, they pander to multinational corporations. This creates an environment where policy is not shaped by the needs of the people, but by the corporations who fund our representatives.
My own Congressman, Representative Dave Reichert, has received over $457,000 this cycle alone from PACSs such as Comcast, AT&T and others. No wonder he ignores the voices and the interests of the people in my home district-he has big business to back him up. No wonder he hasn't passed a single bill during his time in Congress -- he's been too busy fundraising.....
....I want my sons to grow up in a country where elections are decided based on issues, not checkbooks. I want them to see a Congress that responds to the concerns of their constituents, not some unnamed corporations. This is why I'm running for Congress, to make sure that my district is represented by someone who cares about the actual people living there, not the corporations. I am committed to serious campaign finance reform -- we must return Congress to its roots, "We the People".
Jason is a supporter of the
Fair Elections Now Act and
Government by the People Act. More information about Government by the People
