These photographs were taken early yesterday morning in Urfa (Şanlıurfa), which is one of my favorite places in the world.
Urfa is an ancient city (possibly since ~9,500 BC) between the Euphrates and the Tigris in southeast Turkey about 50 km north of the Turkish-Syrian border. It's population is about 600,000.
Many believe that Abraham and Job were born in Urfa.
The city as seen from the citadel which Nimrod is believed to have originally built.
The citadel as seen from the gardens below it.
This mosque is in these gardens and is built over the cave in which many believe Abraham was born.
The next six photographs are of the mosque and the gardens.
Streets in the old city.
A street near the old bazaar.
And two photographs from the farm. Sorry but no goatographs today. It's hot and they don't want to be bothered. :)
