Dear Elaine,
As a general rule, I do not request a spouse explain their spouse's votes. However, if a spouse is going to make a political ad for their spouse, as you, Elaine Chao did, and say, as you did, "some liberals feel entitled to speak on behalf of all women" then that spouse, you, had better be able to explain, in detail, every one of those anti-women votes that your hubby, Minority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell, has cast.
For instance, based off of what you said in your campaign ad for McConnell, you should explain, in detail, why you support McConnell's vote against the Anti-Rape Amendment and other egregious votes McConnell has cast that harms women.
2010
Mitch McConnell, voted against Al Franken's Anti-Rape Amendment (S.Amndt 2588)
Seriously, who votes against laws to help prevent government contractors from allowing gang rape against their employees?
Why did your husband, Minority Senate Leader Mitch McConnell vote Against an Anti-Rape Amendment? WTH? WHO VOTES AGAINST PREVENTING RAPE!?!?
Not to sound snarky, Elaine, and not to judge you in any way but I do wonder how any woman can stay married to a man who votes against preventing rape.
Elaine, it is public knowledge that in 1993, your husband, Senator Mitch McConnell, pulled his sponsorship from the Violence Against Women Act prior to it going on the Senate Floor for a vote. It is also public knowledge that after McConnell removed his name from co-sponsor, he then voted against the Violence Against Women Act 1993.
That said, I am hoping you can you please explain the following votes cast by your husband, Senator Mitch McConnell of which, by your ad, you clearly support.
1993
Mitch McConnell voted against Violence Against Women Act (HR 3355)
April 2012
Mitch McConnell voted against Violence Against Women Act. (S. 47),
February 2013
Mitch McConnell voted against Violence Against Women Act. (S 1925)
Why did your husband vote against the Violence Against Women Act every single time it came on the Senate Floor for a vote? WHO VOTES AGAINST PREVENTING VIOLENCE???
2014:
Mitch McConnell, voted against The Paycheck Fairness Act (S 2199)
2012:
Mitch McConnell, voted against The Paycheck Fairness Act (S. 3220),
2010:
Mitch McConnell, voted against Paycheck Fairness Act (S 3772)
2009:
Mitch McConnell, voted against Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act Of 2009 (S 181)
April 2008:
Mitch McConnell, voted against Equal Pay (HR 2831)
Wow! Is there any way you can explain why your hubby, Mitch McConnell, once again, ditches women and votes against equal pay?
2009:
Mitch McConnell, voted against Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization and Expansion (HR 2)
2007:
Mitch McConnell, voted against State Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Reauthorization (HR 976)
For the life of me, I cannot understand why your husband, Mitch McConnell voted against Children's Health Insurance Program. WHO VOTES AGAINST CHILDREN'S HEALTH INSURANCE FOR GOD's SAKE!?!?
2014:
Mitch McConnell, voted against Protect Women's Health From Corporate Interference Act of 2014 (S 2578)
Really? Why did Mitch McConnell ditch women with his vote against Corporations to dictate the health coverage of women employees?
2009:
Mitch McConnell, voted against Preventive [Health] Services Coverage Requirements (S Amdt 2791)
Next, Elaine, can you please explain the votes your hubby made that harmed American, including Kentucky, workers?
2014:
Mitch McConnell, voted against Bring Jobs Home Act (S 2569)
2013
Mitch McConnell, voted against Bring Jobs Home Act (S 3364)
2012:
Mitch McConnell, voted against Creating American Jobs and Ending Offshoring Act (S 3816)
2010:
Mitch McConnell, voted against Consumer Protection Act (HR 4173)
How in God's name can anyone vote against bringing jobs back to America? Why did your husband vote against the anti-outsourcing bill which would have prevented tax payer dollars from being used to ship America's, including
Kentucky's worker's jobs overseas?
Elaine, my advice to you is this: Before you go making anymore campaign ads for your hubby, you go take a look at his actual voting record ... after all, I'd really hate for you to continue to look like a self-loathing woman in campaign ads.
