Hey, small cabal of Israel supporters here on DKos, stop twisting my words to paint me as a racist. You know who you are.

Nowhere else on DKos are right-wingers like you supported. No. Where. For the life of me, I can't figure out why a blind eye is turned to your shit. Particularly given the number of complaints you generate.

I'm not talking about DKos community members who are active across the range of issues. I'm talking about those who participate only or virtually only in I/P threads and in the most destructive way possible.

The people I am talking about regularly support indiscriminate human rights abuses and blatant murder. They, at times, cheer those very things. They harass people of conscience and, as a first resort, brand good people "antisemitic" because they don't toe the Israeli line. The people I am talking about hijack every attempt to humanize Palestinians by crying 'what about Israelis??!!?" every time the Palestinian perspective is brought up. They dismiss thousands of deaths and the destruction the has rendered Gaza virtually uninhabitable by saying the victims were in the way of Israel's peace of mind.

Today, I saw a diary talking about how Palestinians identified with Ferguson hijacked to talk about how Israelis are the prime victims.

Sickening.

SHAME on the small cabal. Shame on Kos for being outraged over Ferguson but uninterested in the community complaining about discussions of Gaza.

Shame.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can cheer for Israel, but forget about the Palestinians.

History note : the area was called PALESTINE before 1947. Rightfully, it belongs to them.

They are internet trolls, or perhaps they are one of those students/Israelis that are hired by Natanyahu to spread propaganda. I hope people understand Israel does not represent all Jews and criticizing Israeli policies does not make one antisemitic. Just as when we criticize American policies, does not mean we hate America, but that we are voicing our opinion and want to affect positive change. Isn't that what democracy is all about?

My guess is, more than one or two.
With Israel right now polling about 95% support for the genoci..pardon me, cutting the grass, I wouldn't be surprised if Israeli Kossacks are doing the harassing here.
      And it is harassment.
I am also mystified as to why this is acceptable to the PTB in Kosland.

I'm not so sure that it's "acceptable" so much as damn near impossible to track down.

If I, who am almost entirely autodidact in matters IT and totally cashless, can setup a proxy server with nothing more than an old obsolete PC, a local LAN/Ethernet hub, and 4 or 5 Internet feeds, it is absolutely certain that Mossad could do as well or better.

After all, Mossad has a budget. A big one.

So tracking down which Kossacks are posting from Israel, especially those with nefarious aims, is damn near impossible. Israel/Mossad has the resources to disguise these people as posting from the United States, supplied to them as a gift from the United States. No international movenment of funds required. Hire one US lawyer (to list on the proxy server's whois record), one IT guy, and rent a server closet somewhere, and voila!

Kos has neither the cash nor the resources, and he knows it. What he does have is better spent on the original mission of Daily Kos: the election of more and better Democrats.

        •  I tend to support Israel more often then not. (7+ / 0-)

I'm not Jewish.  I live in Florida.  I've also seen a lot of DKOS members be particularly nasty and brutal towards our Jewish members.

Jewish Americans have been consistently one of the Democratic Party's tried and true voting blocks.  As a whole most Jewish American Democrats are incredibly liberal, much more so then their fellow Protestant Democrats and even non-religious Democrats.

It's ridiculous to assume members of DKOS who are Jewish and have a well rounded history at this site are paid operatives of Mossad living in Israel (and if you have an accusation of 'paid shilling', take it to the Help Desk).

Even if we did have DKOS members who reside in Israel (whether American or not), who have a long varied history at this site, it would make them no different then members who post here that live all around the globe (both our American Expats and the many non-Americans who use this site regularly).

My point is/was that with as easy and cheap as it is to mask any poster's true location (physical or IP/MAC), it would be complete hell for the DKos staff to track any such thing down. Hell, American teenage kids routinely pull stunts like this to get around parental restrictions on their Internet access.

So it's clearly ridiculous to accuse the DK staff of "accepting" this, that or the other on the Israel/Palestine stuff. They've got better things to do. And they're doing them. That was my only point.

I don't expect these threads to have a babysitter. But ratings abuse and slander should be treated the same way they are on every other issue - not just overlooked because they are happening in I/P threads.

While not a central focus of DKos, it is an issue the many in this community care passionately about given the role of the US in it.

As a Jewish member I can say that's a complete and utter falsehood. Of course there is some nastiness directed at people who offer intellectually dishonest defenses of war crimes and other brutalities directed at Palestinians, but that group of people is not coincident with "our Jewish members" and the motivation for the nastiness is not antisemitism ... no matter how many times that big lie gets told.

  •  I understand (12+ / 0-)

My first diary here was a comment on why I can no longer wholeheartedly support Israel, my basic reason being that they should not do to others what was done to them. I got slammed. I have refrained from commenting on Israel since, at least here, despite the fact that I have both Jewish and Israeli friends who feel as I do. I don't feel like listening to the cr@p from those types.

Hey, small cabal of Israel supporters here on DKos, stop twisting my words to paint me as a racist. You know who you are.
    First let us define cabal
    1
:  the artifices and intrigues of a group of persons secretly united in a plot (as to overturn a government); also :  a group engaged in such artifices and intrigues
Wow!  A group of persons secretly united in a plot.  I wonder where there meme has been used before in my peoples history .....

Hmm, seems telling that you would use such language.  I think I hear a dog whistle there

Nowhere else on DKos are right-wingers like you supported. No. Where. For the life of me, I can't figure out why a blind eye is turned to your shit. Particularly given the number of complaints you generate.
right-wingers? Really?  Standing up for rights of a minority that has been persecuted for centuries?

Wow, I must have taken a long nap and the right-wing must have undergone a massive transformation during that time!

Seems to me that the right-winger side would be standing against Israel and the Jewish population there. (except the evangelicals who would round us up in Israel to kill us for their lord to come again...)

Such a blatant over-generalization of a whole group of people comes next from your diary, and I quote:

The people I am talking about regularly support indiscriminate human rights abuses and blatant murder. They, at times, cheer those very things.
Not one supporter of Israel here does such things, but you use the same hyperbole that you accuse other people of who call you antisemitic.

But I am guessing you won't see the duplicitous nature of this.

    And furthermore

    SHAME ONE YOU!

Shame on you and people who feel that they must drive out progressive Jews from DKOS and the progressive movement.  And before you mention people like DHG, yes the Jewish people have their own version of Clarence Thomas. Just like that sellout Clarence Thomas doesn't speak for all African-Americans, DHG does NOT speak for all of us progressives Jews!

Hate to break it to you, but when you 'stand with Israel', when you champion the right of a hyper-militarized settler-state to bomb an impoverished ghetto, you're not "standing up for a minority that has been persecuted for centuries." You're indulging a fetish for state-sponsored violence.

Not once did the diarist mention the word "Jewish", but your attempt to conflate the discussion has been noted.

    •  How things seem to you isn't how they are. (3+ / 0-)
Seems to me that the right-winger side would be standing against Israel and the Jewish population there.
And yet the opposite is true.
Not one supporter of Israel here does such things
      They certainly do.
but you use the same hyperbole that you accuse other people of who call you antisemitic.
It's no hyperbole, and even if it were these would not be of a kind. At least you don't deny the antisemitism charge that is ongoing from your block ... there's even an instance of it in the comments here, with absurd talk of "particular nastiness" aimed at "our Jewish members". As a Jewish member, I take extreme offense at such grossly dishonest charges.
But I am guessing you won't see the duplicitous nature of this.
You lack of self-reflection would be astounding if it weren't so familiar by now.
      SHAME ONE YOU!
Shame on you for doing the things she talks about and for attacking the diarist.
Shame on you and people who feel that they must drive out progressive Jews from DKOS and the progressive movement.
There it is again, the grossly offensive identification of "Jews", rather than "apologists for Israeli war crimes",  which are not coincident groups. I for one am a member of the former but not the latter. And the stance of the latter is not at all "progressive", and I have been unsurprised to find many of said apologists here to hold unprogressive views in other areas as well.
DHG does NOT speak for all of us progressives Jews!
Who is "us"? I am a progressive Jew. Some apologists for Israel's crimes may be progressive in some areas, but not in that area.

If someone started firing rockets on Manhattan or Peoria, I would expect the United States to take military action to stop them and the United States would be completely justified in doing so.   This would be true whether or not the rockets were successful at killing many Americans.   It would, in almost all circumstances, not matter why these attacks were being launched.  For example, the fact that they might be launched by groups with significant legitimate past or present grievances against the United States would make no difference.

Hamas attacked Israel with multiple rockets.  The rockets were fired from Gaza, an area under the effective control of Hamas. Rockets are not rocks thrown by teenagers; multiple rocket attacks are an act of war.   An Israeli military response to destroy Hamas and/or its ability to attack Israel was appropriate and justified.

That is an extremist, ideological interpretation of events and justification for war crimes, and I oppose it.
  •  Agree 100% (4+ / 0-)

Israel is victimizing mil veces more than being victimized these days.

The US and EU should cut them off, period, until they stop what they are doing to the Palestinians. Call it what you will, it's a crime.
