I am still caught up with the fact that Michael Bloomberg wants to have his own people lay down their guns. Here we are with antisemitism on the rise. We have the news media pouring out comments about Israel and painting them as the "bad guys". Do you believe that Mr. Bloomberg?
Do you believe the Jewish people want to just follow like sheep without recourse?
This is the only politically toned comment I will make for my message is more meaningful without the trappings of the left or the right or any political group period.
I will do my best to not spew the views of the left or the right. I will say that I belong to an organization called Jews for the Preservation of Firearms. I believe in the second amendment.
I believe that if one falls the remaining amendments are subject to fall at the whim of those who seek to oppress others. I believe that Jews have learned (hopefully with exception of the aforementioned former Mayor) that to say it won't happen again is to be armed.
This hate is at our back door and for some right on our streets. At a county fair here in Vermont stood a man before me (not a carny with the fair rather a visitor) with a tattoo of the swastika and the SS logo on the calf of his leg. I found myself putting my hand over my star of David necklace and felt fear. The reality that hate for Jews is not just a news clip from France. The reality that I fear for my lansmen like my grandmother feared for her sister in Poland once upon a time.
I will not provoke anyone and yet I will not remove my mazuzah from my front door. I will not allow my home to become subject to fear because there is a gun here to protect it.
I am from the left side of life and find myself adamant that I have this right, in this country, to keep and bear arms in order to protect and defend who I am. It is a pity that in this country I would have to do it however France is the preview of what is to come. It is a law in this country that at least I can protect my home and all those that reside within. I will defend that law which has made this country the cornerstone of freedom.
Rib-it rib-it Shalom!
