Bill Clinton, Usher and now add this big name to the list of people working to get Michelle Nunn (D. GA) elected:

The First Lady is coming to Atlanta next week for an education rally, a voter registration rally and a fundraiser for Democratic Senate candidate Michelle Nunn.
Michelle Obama is expected to attend a 1:30 p.m. tour of Booker T. Washington High School as part of her "Reach Higher" initiative. She'll join Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
Mrs. Obama's "Reach Higher" initiative focuses on the importance of pursuing and completing some form of higher education. The goal is part of the President's plan to ensure that by the year 2020, America once again has the highest proportion of college graduates in the world. - 11 Alive, 9/3/14
And that's a great thing for Nunn:
http://www.bloomberg.com/...
The first lady, who had a 62 percent approval rating in a Pew Research Center poll released in July, hasn’t been active on the stump this year even as some fellow Democrats have sought her help.
She jumps back into the political fray on Sept. 8, headlining an event in Atlanta raising funds for Nunn in her race against Republican David Perdue, the former chief executive officer of Dollar General Corp. The two are vying for the seat that Republican Saxby Chambliss is giving up, with the latest polls giving Nunn a slight lead.
A Nunn win would hinder the Republican push for the net gain of six seats the party needs to control the Senate.
President Barack Obama, weighed down by multiple world crises and with only a 39 percent approval rating in today’s Gallup tracking poll, won’t be accompanying his wife on the trip to Georgia. He was defeated in the state in each of his presidential races, losing it by 9 percentage points as he won re-election in 2012.
The first lady’s appearance for Nunn, which also will benefit the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, is closed to the press. Afterward, though, she’ll speak at a nearby voter registration rally that’s open to the public. - Bloomberg, 9/3/14
The First Lady's appearance will certainly give Nunn's campaign a big boost. Her father, former Senator Sam Nunn (D. GA), has been hitting the campaign trail with her as well:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/...
In a neck-and-neck Senate race, Michelle Nunn (D) has made Sam Nunn a centerpiece of her campaign to follow in his footsteps. She has repeatedly vowed to emulate his across-the-aisle lawmaking style and has said she would seek a post on the influential Armed Services Committee that her father once led.
This month, father and daughter toured several military bases, joint appearances in which Sam Nunn clearly sought to establish Michelle Nunn as the heir to his political philosophy.
The former senator, 75, declared in one stop that his daughter “has exactly the type of common-sense, bipartisan approach you need to be successful in the Senate,” according to comments distributed by the campaign.
Michelle Nunn, 47, speaks fondly of watching her father operate in the Senate before his 1997 retirement, recalling in an interview last week how he developed true friendships in both parties.
“I have a great role model,” she said.
The strategy will test not only the enduring value in Georgia of the Nunn name, but also whether voters disgusted by Washington dysfunction believe it is possible to bring back a bygone era of collaboration. Or do they believe such a promise is impossible for any politician to keep in today’s Washington. - Washington Post, 9/3/14
Democrats are taking this race seriously because even conservative polls show we have a great shot here:
http://www.wrbl.com/...
Democrat Michelle Nunn shows a slight lead over republican David Perdue in Tuesday's poll. Nunn was selected by 44.74% of those polled; Perdue was selected by 43.09%.
Rehm said a lot of this election is going to have to do with gender.
"Michelle Nunn does poll better among women," Rehm said. "Her campaign is designed to do better among women. She was chosen and promoted partly to do better among women."
Candidates who typically do well among men are doing better amongst male voters while those who typically do well among female voters are holding onto more of that vote, Rehm said. He speculates Nunn could benefit well from this because typically more women turn out to vote than men. The WRBL/Ledger-Enquirer/PMB poll was setup to mirror that ratio, with about 54% of those polled being women.
There is a slight advantage to whichever candidate can get the final appeal from female voters, Rehm explained. - WRBL, 9/2/14
That poll also shows a tight race between Governor Nathan Deal (R. GA) and State Senator Jason Carter (D. GA). And I like that Nunn is making this an issue on the campaign trail:

Nunn’s seven-page plan, which you can find here, is another signal that last year’s federal shutdown still looms large in the race for Georgia’s open Senate seat. Republican David Perdue’s pledge to reduce the deficit helped him emerge from a crowded GOP primary, and he’s sought to tie Nunn to “outrageous spending” in Washington.
Nunn pledges to “end government shutdowns and self-inflicted crises” by supporting Sen. Mark Udall’s amendment to require Congress to balance the budget and a “no budget, no pay” law that would block lawmakers from getting paychecks if they fail to pass a spending plan.
She also reiterated her support for a Senate-backed plan that would provide a 13-year path to citizenship for some undocumented immigrants.
On that last note, Nunn voiced support for finding ways to smooth the transition of undocumented “Dream Act” students, though it wasn’t a specific part of her plan. She talked of meeting with parents in Gainesville who were upset that their childrens’ classmates “hit a wall” after high school.
Said Nunn:
“They hit a wall when they realize that jobs, education, all of that is cut off. That is not in our state’s best interest. It’s not in our community’s best interest. And its not in our nation’s best interest. I do believe that we do need to secure the borders and create a pathway to citizenship that enables people to go to the back of the line, pass background checks, learn English, but have a chance of giving back to their communities.” - Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 9/4/14
We can win this race, we just have to get our base out to the polls. Nunn has been running a centrist campaign to win over older white voters who vote for Democrats like her father while also working to win over African American, Latino, female and youth voters. She's also going to keep hammering David Perdue (R. GA) on government shutdowns:
Over the last year, I have met with people from all over Georgia who were hurt by the government shutdown. From Georgia's military bases that were forced to furlough thousands of defense workers, to local businesses that experienced a slowdown in business, to critical Center for Disease Control research that was put on hold while Congress bickered -- these stories are too powerful to be ignored.
Georgians deserve leaders who will sit down at the table and work through the tough problems -- not walk out of the room when the going gets rough. Sign the petition asking Washington leaders to work together and prevent future government shutdowns.

Collaboration is critical to our problem solving in Washington. Yet my opponent, David Perdue (who admitted that he stormed out of his meeting with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce because he "got mad"), recently doubled down on his support of the government shutdown, saying his support of the shutdown "speaks for itself."
That's more of the same attitude that landed us -- and our economy -- in the government shutdown to begin with.
We need to send a strong message to Washington -- and to David Perdue -- that Georgians will not accept any more government shutdowns. Will you add your name to our petition to prevent another shutdown?
http://www.michellenunn.com/...
Your support will send the powerful message that people are ready to end political partisanship and return to a focus on problem solving.
I hope you'll take a moment to ask our leaders to focus on collaboration and cooperation.
http://www.michellenunn.com/...
After all, our government is here to work for the people of Georgia.
Thank you for signing our petition,
Michelle
