Do not jingle your bells! Do not go riding in a one horse sleigh! And what ever you do, under no circumstance are you to don your gay apparel under false pretense! Kirk Cameron is pissed and is no longer going to stand for it.
With Christmas just a few short months away, Cameron's own CAMFAM Studios and Provident Films working with Samuel Goldwyn Films has announced the November 14th release of Saving Christmas. The hope is that it will make a butt load of cash moralizing about how crass commercialism has robbed the holiday from Christians.
Every year at Christmas time it seems the baby in the manger takes more and more of a backseat to retail sales, Santa Claus, and political correctness. With “Merry Christmas” being replaced by “Seasons Greetings” and court ordered removal of public nativity scenes, the fruit of Mary’s womb is falling on hard times.
But this year, Kirk Cameron is taking back Christmas with his engaging new movie SAVING CHRISTMAS. Opening in select theaters November 14, the newest movie from the star of Fireproof and Unstoppable is filled with laughter, warmth, and God-honoring cheer! SAVING CHRISTMAS will change the way your family sees and celebrates this magical time of year.
In SAVING CHRISTMAS, Kirk’s sister’s annual Christmas party is about to be ruined by Kirk’s brother-in-law Christian, who is chock full of no-fun Scroogery. Kirk realizes it’s his job to grab Christian by his seasonal sweater and show him Christ where Christ has always been: smack dab at the center of all the Christmas hoopla.
KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS provides a biblical basis for our favorite time-honored traditions and celebrations, and the inspiration to stand strongly against a culture that wants to trivialize and eliminate the faith elements of this holy season.
This Christmas, have your family join with Kirk Cameron’s family and dive headfirst into all the joy, dancing, celebration, feasting, imagination, and traditions that glorify the true “reason for the season.”
I have news for these people. Crass commercialism has ruined it for us all.
With the early announcement of the film's release date, they have done something I wouldn't have thought possible. They have beat Bill O'Reilly and Fox News to their annual bleatings about the nefarious War on Christmas.
In an interview with Glenn Beck's The Blaze, Cameron let's us know this movie is really going to stick it to atheists and anyone else who dares make merry at Christmastime without paying proper white, Christian, male deference to the baby Jesus.
“It’s a scripted story about a guy named Christian White who represents the typical white Christian male and he’s got a bad case of religious bah humbugs,” Cameron said.
Concerning atheists, "I assume they're going to get frustrated to see some of their best arguments deflated by this movie, because we take on some of the most commonly parroted myths about the origins of Christmas."
Cameron said some of the claims that will be addressed in the film include: the notion that Christmas is really a church co-opting of winter solstice celebrations, that Jesus was not born on December 25, that Christmas trees are pagan and that consumerism is overshadowing the true reason for the season.
“Christmas is probably my favorite time of year,” he said. “It seems to be the time of year when even cranky, grumpy people seem to be touched by the spirit of generosity and kindness and brotherly love and I know that that ultimately stems from the true reason for the season, which is Christ.”
Cameron continued, “It’s obvious that there is a deliberate attempt to snuff out the holy root that has produced all this wonderful Christmas-time fruit. I think it’s about time someone spoke out and made a movie about this.”
Cameron must have been living under a rock these past 10 years if he thinks the Christian right and the Fox Yapping Heads haven't made entire mountain ranges out of this itty bitty molehill already. It's become an industry for these people. Meanwhile, the rest of us look up over our cup of eggnog and wonder what the hell they are on about. Have at it. Celebrate your religion. Embrace it. It pleases me to know you are happy.
Meanwhile, at our house we are happy too. We gay up the tree with fabulous ornaments, decorate the mantle, savor the seasonal food and drink, enjoy the music, and have a sentimental yearly laugh at A Christmas Story. It's always a wonderful time for us all. It sounds more to me like they want to have a war on our kind of Christmas, one we have zero interest in engaging. Who's the Scrooge here?
