I've seen plenty of lists of corporations/businesses or corporations'/businesses' products to boycott. I'd like to start a list of corporations/businesses to support. I'd be interested to see if I could live by buying only from businesses to which I'd gladly give my support. Could I? Could you? Follow me below the orange "Progressive Customers Welcome" neon sign.
I'd like to start the list with two national corporations and two regional businesses:
1. CostCo - is renowned for treating its employees well and for having a pay ceiling for top-level executives. We should reward such businesses which treat their employees well.
2. SAS - a Statistics Analysis Software company regularly tops the list of companies which treat their employees well. They have free gym facilities and I believe they even have some childcare services.
3. Hot Spot Convenience Stores - With a card which their clerks encourage every customer to get, you get all sorts of deals on the products they sell. I can get a re-fill on my fountain drink for less than half the price I can get from other Convenience stores. Plus, they have good BOGO deals on candy. I also talked to some of the employees, and they get healthcare and paid vacation; these benefits are certainly a cut above those of other Convenience Stores.
4. Hardwick Clothing Manufacturing - We need to re-start the Textile/Clothing manufacturing business in America. All of Hardwick's clothing is made in America. It's one of the few clothing manufacturers left which can make that claim. Let's support them.
Honorable Mention:
Market Basket - Its customers and employees boycotted/struck to re-instate its CEO. Of course, that's a national story, so I think the movement to support them is well underway.
