As most of you know, I am a retired City of Chicago employee, and that I have no great love for our current Mayor, Rahm Emanuel. So, with the rumors that 2nd Ward Alderman Robert Fioretti was contemplating running against Mr. Emanuel, I wasn't too surprised by the robocall I just received from his campaign, voice by Mr. Fioretti himself, announcing his entering the race.
While some other politicians may have done this (and I'd like to hear of you experiences of such), it was a first for me. I know Mr. Fioretti has been a thorn in Mr. Emanuel's side in the City Council, so it will be interesting to see how this shakes out.
I'm not taking sides at this point, since I had hoped we would have a whole new bunch of politicians to deal with upon moving to Stephenson County, which seems to be postponed at the moment. I just thought I'd share with everyone.
