Good Morning Kossacks and Welcome to Morning Open Thread (MOT)
We're known as the MOTley Crew and you can find us here every morning at 6:30 a.m. Eastern (and perhaps sometimes earlier!). Feel free to volunteer to take a day - permanently or just once in awhile. With the Auto Publish feature you can set it and forget it. Sometimes the diarist du jour shows up much later: that's the beauty of Open Thread...it carries on without you! Volunteer in the comment threads.
Click on the MOT - Morning Open Thread ♥ if you'd like us to show up in your stream.
Yesterday's Map
It is always better to avenge dear ones than to indulge in mourning.
For every one of us, living in this world means waiting for our end. Let whoever can win glory before death. When a warrior is gone, that will be his best and only bulwark.
- Seamus Heaney, from Beowulf
Apparently it all began in 1707, but I haven't kept up with it except for the last few years and then, intensely, only for the past few weeks. At the time of this writing, the vote really is too close to call; but I suspect it will still be the United Kingdom this morning--something about tradition and history gives me that feeling.
In any event, here are four bands (Van, The Man, is sort of a force unto himself, though technically not a "band") from four different countries.
Grab a cup of coffee and pull up a chair. What's on your mind this glorious morning?
