"So tell me, Sen. Roberts, how the hell are you about to lose a Senate race IN KANSAS?"
The irony of Democrats potentially holding the Senate because of
Kansas is so delicious, it already has Republicans
losing their heads. Particularly since the Kansas Supreme Court told über-wingnut Kris Kobach to go 'f himself. From the Kansas Republican Party chair:
"It is a sad day for Kansans when the state Supreme Court uses tortured reasoning to conclude that Chad Taylor, the candidate elected by a majority of the Kansas democrats, could come off the ballot—with no explanation whatsoever."
"Tortured reasoning" equals "plain reading of the law, the way it had been interpreted by the Secretary of State office for every candidate withdrawal until it no longer suited Republican interests."
"It is depressing to see the state Supreme Court condone political gamesmanship and a national power play to deceive and disenfranchise Kansas voters."
It's only "disenfranchisement" if it hurts Republicans, say the guys who've been doing
this. But given they're about to lose the top three offices on their ballot, Kansas Republicans will soon have plenty more to be depressed about.
"It is pathetic that the Kansas Democrats are celebrating that their own candidate, elected by their own voters, quit. If Taylor had worked half as hard as a candidate as he did to get off the ballot, he might have had a chance."
Let's see, Taylor showed up to the Secretary of State office and submitted a brief letter. That's all he had to do to win the Senate seat? Darn it! That's almost as pathetic as Pat Roberts facing electoral annihilation because he decided that living in Virginia was so much nicer than Kansas.
How about Pat Roberts' campaign manager, the guy DC Republicans parachuted in to try and save their Virginia-based candidate?
"In a bow to Senators Claire McCaskill and Harry Reid (D-Nev.), liberal activist Supreme Court justices have decided that if you voted in the Democrat Primary on August 5th, your vote does not matter, your voice does not matter, and you have no say in who should be on the ballot on Election Day," Bliss said. "This is not only a travesty to Kansas voters, but it’s a travesty to the judicial system and our electoral process."
I've never seen Republicans so concerned about the "Democrat Party". Can you feel the sincerity, what with the "Democrat Party" thing. And given the decision was unanimous, what were Republican governors Sam Brownback and Bill Graves doing nominating liberals to that Supreme Court?
Meanwhile, Kobach is still trying to boss around Democrats, which is totally adorbs after the unanimous smackdown he got from his state's Supreme Court.
You can contribute $5 to help elect Kobach's challenger Jean Schodorf and send the worst secretary of state ... somewhere else.
