NBC political doofus at work
TPM informs that Chuck Todd, who constitutes and performs NBC News' brain farts, has come with a very Washington Betlway Establishment method for
classifying American voters in the upcoming election: Starbucks drinkers vs. Chick-Fil-A eaters:
Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd on Sunday described the 2014 midterm elections as a battle between "Starbucks nation" and "Chick-Fil-A country."
He split the U.S. into the Democratic urban areas that drink Starbucks and the Republican rural areas that eat Chick-Fil-A.
According to Todd, there are a few Senate seats up for grabs in Chick-Fil-A-loving states like Montana, South Dakota and West Virginia, giving Republicans the advantage. And he said that the major battlegrounds are Colorado and Iowa
The first state Chuck Todd mentions as "Chick-Fil-A country" is Montana. However, according to the Chick-Fil-A website
store locator there are NO CHICK-FIL-A LOCATIONS in Montana. Zero.
There are over a dozen Starbucks locations in Montana.
This why I have to rely on the Internet to tell me what the Washington Establishment is up to because I can't watch.
Look, I know Todd doesn't actually care how many stores are where, he's just making broad sorts of generalizations about red and blue states. That's fine. At the very least, however, the data should back up the opinion to at least some extent when one is a media person.
