When do you think we will ever learn? Former Virginia Governor Robert F. McDonnell, a supposed holy man of integrity, family values, and Godliness was
convicted by a Virginia jury of 11 counts of corruption. His wife, Maureen, was convicted of nine counts of corruption. They were convicted of doing special, governmental favors for a snake oil salesman named Jonnie R. Williams Sr. in exchange for money, expensive gifts, golf outings, and all those things the Radical Right think they have the privilege to claim.
What is most hypocritical and sickening is not that they violated the public trust and dishonored the Office of the Governor of Virginia, but that the Governor’s defense relied exclusively on making the woman he supposedly shared a righteous marriage with into a nag, money grubbing, demanding wife who had an a adolescent crush on snake oil salesman Jonnie R. Williams Sr. whose product has been put out of business by the Food and Drug Administration.
Mrs. McDonnell took the abuse without testifying–the dutiful, but corrupt wife all the way to the end.
The former governor went so far as to say that he couldn’t resist his wife’s demands, because she had worn him down.
Hypocritical to the end, the ex-governor met the media every day before and after court sessions by expressing his faith in God and confidence in his holy deliverance.
There are rich and powerful amongst us who think NO rules apply to them, that all the privilege they can grab is theirs to take.
Ex-governor McDonnell sobbing in his hands when the verdict was read is a microcosm of the oligarchic class, which thinks the value of our work, the productivity we grow, the riches of America belong to them for their use and their pleasure.
Governor McDonnell and those he represents have created an obvious, open, not even hidden ruling class, which disdains and has nothing but contempt for those of us who still keep America going.
We must find a way in the streets, in the courts, at the polls, and in every communication to break their haughty power. This kind of shit is not America.
