So today's 'Job Fair' was just what I figured it would be: A huge clusterfuck of shit wage employers looking to hire temporary workers in preparation for Christmas and the Black Friday Hunger Games. Still, I did hand my resume to a few places that may be promising, but this is Brevard County we're talking about here and the only way to get a job is to already have a job or know someone with enough connections or privilege to get you a job.
The conservative relative who drove me to this job fair told me most employers look at Facebook as part of some pre-employment interview checklist and also said since Florida is "85 percent Republican (Yeah, coming from a Republican whose residency is in Texas and votes in Texas elections)" that most employers won't touch me because of my Facebook page (They already avoid me like the plague anyway). So I plan on deleting my page instead. It's not worth it because Facebook is mostly wingnuts anyway and where I live nothing I say or do is worth a god damn thing politically,
I may as well quit while I'm behind looking for a job too, because these days employers are looking for any excuse they can not to hire someone and I have too many strikes against me with my lack of experience, no driver's license or ability to handle insane Florida roads, I'm unemployable. Not that some people here would even understand that either.
I'm finding more and more that I could look for work til the cows come home and there'd still be no opportunities because Brevard County and Florida in general work against disabled people on a daily basis. So I guess social security it is, then.
See you around,
Homer
