Facebook feeds in NC have been graced recently by a CrossroadsGPS video ad blasting Senator Kay Hagan for her support of the Affordable Care Act. "Under Obamacare there have been over $700 bill cut from Medicare. Tell Kay Hagan to support S. 177." Besides the Medicare "cuts", the video revisits policy cancellations and "you can keep you doctor". Standard GOP stuff. But it's the user comments that are the real entertainment.
A casual scan of the comments shows the vast majority calling BS. I'll leave out the names of the posters, but this will give you a feel for it:
"They're still on the $700 billion Medicare cut baloney? The $700 billion they cut in their Paul Ryan budget? That's all they got?"
"If republicans are all about states rights, then why not leave this decision to residents of NC. Crossroads GPS has it's hands in a number of state elections."
"Love it when people who don't live here in NC are determined to tell me how to vote and the dire consequences for me not voting their way."
"All you rednecks: go ahead and shoot yourself in the foot. Vote republican. You deserve it."
"Republicans vote against their own interest and wonder why things don't get better. I just don't get it."
"Thom Tillis will support whatever Koch bros. tell him."
"And Tillis will sell out what's left to the Koch brothers. They don't five a rip about you little people."
"I am scared! Scared of everything! Karl Rove who should I vote for!"
"Lies from those who don't care about the least of these! Where is love in the hearts of republicans for those they serve??"
If CrossroadsGPS was hoping to spark viral outrage at Kay Hagan, it was an epic fail. Overwhelmingly, the comments amounted to "Karl Rove. Bless his heart". Anyone who lives in the South knows, that's the verbal middle finger.
