I recently saw a video on how robotics, and computer bots are nearly ready to take over most of the jobs that humans currently do.
We need a discussion on what will happen to the millions of people who won't be needed to do any job, through no fault of their own.
What will happen to those who can't find a job and won't have an income to support themselves and their families. These are not "lazy" people, but just an excess workforce that will have nearly nothing to do.
As the film states, these technologies are here right now and not just in some fantasy future world possibility. The bots and robots will likely be a significant cause of unemployment within the next 20 years.
Would a wealth tax and redistribution of those funds as a basic income be enough to stem the dire poverty that will arise from this new technological revolution? Is there some other way that you can think of that would make this new reality less painful for those left behind in the job market?
Please share your thoughts in the comments.
Thank You
