And deserves too. (See CNN report). But this doesn't mean I am glad that Mr. Dunn was sentenced for his cold-blooded execution of Jordan Davis. Now instead of educating children, or caring for the ill, or even lowering taxes the state of Florida has to feed, house and care for Michael Dunn for the next 20 or 30 years.
All of this need not have happened, had Mr. Dunn not stupidly equipped himself with a handgun and a concealed weapons permit, which in Florida are pretty much given out like beads at Mardi Gras.
Who really should have been in the dock would be the NRA and its servile toadies in the Florida State Legislature (and every other legislator who takes their money), because they are the ones who stoked up the climate of fear and delusion into which wandered various such as Mr. Dunn and his fellow Floridian child-killer, George Zimmerman.
But for good or ill, our constitution holds these fear-mongering lampreys only to the penalty of loss of office, or public humiliation -- none of which has yet been imposed here.
