Early this morning, Governor Sam Brownback spoke out against same-sex marriage at a rally on the east side of Wichita.
It’s a sentiment that Gov. Brownback echoed.
“70-percent of Kansans voted to put in your constitution that marriage is the definition of a man and a woman,” said Gov. Brownback.
Other state officials took to the podium, delivering a message that could soon become reality.
“If we lose the battle you will have to accept the view that marriage can be anything three judges say it is,” said U.S. representative Tim Huelskamp.

This isn't much of a surprise, as Sam Brownback has been, as he put it "leading the charge" on making sure that Kansas continues to fight the ruling.
“We need to push forward our candidates that stand for this country, that stand for faith, that stand for family, that stand for freedom,” he said. “This faith, family, freedom, that’s the name of the bus,” Brownback said, motioning toward a bus the FRC had decorated as part of its whistle-stop tour. “It’s also the name of the basic American philosophy, guys. The motto of the nation remains, ‘In God we trust.’”
In addition to Brownback, there were brief speeches by a number of other people, including Josh Duggar of TLC’s “19 Kids & Counting” reality TV show and 1st District U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler, who described judicial intervention in the same-sex marriage issue as a battle, and “the battle is on,” he said.

Brownback's policies on Gay Marriage are well stated and broad - they extend far beyond the issues of Gay Marriage, but to the heart of the right of an individual.
Kansas continues to campaign against gay individuals - let's be blunt, the campaign isn't just against Gay Marriage, it is an open campaign against those who identify as LGBT.
Last winter, in Kansas, an attempt was made to pass "Turn Away Gays" legislation, House Bill 2453, a piece of legislation that allowed open discrimination practices, including guidelines that would allow government employees the right to refuse service to tax paying citizens.
Speaking from the podium with Sam was Tim Huelskamp, the representative who is the author of the "1M1W Constitutional Amendment" demanding we revise the constitution to make sure that only 1 Man, 1 Woman can marry.
Huelskamp, who previously contended that "Women are desperate for men" has started to point out at his town halls the ill of gay people, has begun sending out gay-baiting emails, buzzing other candidates for their support of equal rights for all Americans.
The cake on this issue, though, goes to Randy Powell, a candidate who will run for House District 30 in Kansas City. Powell, in a recent New Republic interview said this:

In contrast to Dickinson, Powell emphasizes his social and religious commitments. When I ask him about his differences with Dickinson, he says, “I think Liz is probably pro-choice, I would call her anti-life. I think she is concerned—is it the lesbian gay bisexual? Is it LGBT?—she was upset about that. I would look at it from the flipside of that coin. I think marriage should be between a man and a woman. Setting aside my religious convictions, show me a culture that has survived and prospered where marriage isn’t between a man and a woman.”
When I ask him about his emphasis on social issues rather than on taxes or education, he responds, “Let’s face it. When we look back on history, a tax cut for all Kansans is admirable, but when you look back at history, it is social justice that is remembered. Those are the kinds of thing people become passionate about, that make a difference. I’m all for the tax cuts, but the social issues are what really drive me.”
That's right. Kansas Republicans have decided that running the anti-gay campaign works for them. It would be nice to send them a message that says, we aren't afraid to talk about this issue.
