Two heroes one today another over 200 years ago both died to make us far safer Mohammed Abubaka who saved Nigeria from an extended epidemic, Jesse William Lazear, who died after putting mosquitoes on his arm to prove if they spread Yellow Fever.

Yellow Fever and Ebola diseases of panic. During the Revolutionary era people trying to escape Yellow Fever from Philadelphia were prevented from entering what was soon to be called Washington DC, and places in western Pennsylvania Years Later people trying to leave steam ships and trains were forbidden to leave in several incidents shot at when they tried. One steamboat on the Mississippi River unable to leave for almost a year as the ship traveled back and force looking for a place that it would be allowed to dock.
The fact that actually no one died because of contact with a sick person in this country with either Yellow Fever or Ebola added to the panic.
