Living right next to an early voting place has a lot of advantages. I got a good amount of exercise today from being able to walk there.
Yup. I voted early today because I didn't want to deal with the crowds looking to cast their ballots on election day. Straight Democratic ticket, too. Lord knows the state of Florida can't afford four more years of organized theft by Rick Scott and his cronies.
We also can't have him appointing wingnut corporate judges whether he wins or loses (Amendment 3, for those of you who haven't cast a ballot yet in Florida. Vote NO!). And don't even get me started on his crony AG, Pam Bondi. Suffice it to say the moment she fired prosecutors for looking into the foreclosure scandals here that told me everything I needed to know about her and then some.
Amendments 1 and 2 definitely should be passed. The funds to protect Florida's environment are vital to the well being of the state and if it passes, amendment 2 would help a lot of people in spite of the lies about drug dealers in TV spots.
I also voted yes on the half cent tax for the school system, because as anyone will tell you, Florida's schools always seem to be strapped for cash (Unless you live in a rich district filled with private and charter schools, of course) and they sure could use it. Not to mention my wife and her family are public educators so I understand what they go through on a daily basis, so this was a no-brainer for me.
In any case, as someone once said: Vote early and often.
See you around,
Homer
