These are photographs from a mural in Vancouver, Washington. As I took them I could not help but wonder if the United States would ever allow a generation to come to maturity without knowing war; a generation which would honor peace; a generation which would respect diplomacy rather than the raw power of shock and awe; a generation which would celebrate life rather than death; a generation which would not heed the propaganda drums of war which to reverberate across the countryside with such regularity; a generation which might understand that not all wars are right nor honorable.
