Anyone who peeked at the Top Comments diary I wrote on Monday saw a story about current junior Senator from my state, Tim Scott. He seems nice, if you don't look below the surface. If you don't look at his record.
He tells a tale of hope and optimism, of overcoming adversity to achieve great success in our system ... But, what he does NOT tell is how his party NEVER works to create opportunity, how his party NEVER works to help people face less obstruction and adversity. No, his party ALWAYS works to increase the obstacles, the stress, the adversity. Whether it comes to voting or education or health care, they ALWAYS want there to be more (and more difficult, if, indeed, not insurmountable!) problems facing our citizens. They make it harder to find jobs, they make it harder to earn a living wage, they work hard to raise the amount one needs to earn for it to BE a living wage.
More below the fleur de kos!
In fiction, obstacles add interest, add challenge for the protagonist to overcome. Life - ALWAYS - offers plenty in the way of challenge. Plenty in the way of obstacles. Plenty in the way of conflict. Life needs no help from f*cking Republicans in that regard. And their objective isn't to help their political enemies realize GREATER achievement relative to adversity - it is in trying to make them fail outright, as happens too often. Indeed, as would happen too often without ANY Tim Scotts. As would happen without any Bushes. As would happen without any Chris Christies. As would happen without any Scott Walkers. As would happen without any Scott Browns. (What is it with this Scott motif?!) As would happen without any Rand Pauls. As would happen without any Mitch McConnells. As would happen without any John Boehners. As would happen without any ... oh hell, there isn't time before the election to list all the Republicans we can do without. You all know their names. In short, as would happen without any Republicans at all adding to the obstacles.
I think it is a major reason we sometimes experience amazement and disbelief at the crazy, because it is just beyond imagining - reality trumping fiction.
Truth is indeed stranger than fiction, and more perverse. Particularly when republicans have a hand in it. ::shaking head::
You stack the deck against 99% of the citizens of our country, Republicans. Your 'work' is not needed, your presence is not needed, or wanted. Go away. Take your 1%'er friends with you.
And a special KTK Happy Birthday to Glen The Plumber! It is a pleasure and an honor to know you!

So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
