There's a fairly new interactive election tool in town, complete with profanity and some much-needed comic relief. The site is called,
YourFuckingPollingPlace.com and its data is driven by
Google Civic Information API and
The Voting Project. It offers to help you find your polling place and candidates with ease and humor. You simply
open this link, type your address into the search box, and in seconds, you should get a message with the name and address of your polling station, along with a few other subtle directions like:
'Take some fucking action' and 'This is who you can fucking vote for'
If the tool does not find your polling location, you get something like this:
'I apparently have nothing better to do than help your ass all fucking day.'
After personally polling 50 friends to see if the site worked for them, 48 reported it was spot on. You need to type in a full address. If you already know where to vote,
Find Your Fucking Polling Place is still entertaining and worth checking out - if anything, just to see what name they have given your personal polling station.
What is the Civic Information API?
The Google Civic Information API allows developers to build applications that display civic information to their users. For any U.S. residential address, you can look up who represents that address at each elected level of government. During supported elections, you can also look up polling places, early vote location, candidate data, and other election official information.
What is the
VIP/Voting Information Project?
The Voting Information Project (VIP) works with states to provide official information to voters about where to vote and what’s on their ballots. VIP is a partnership between The Pew Charitable Trusts, Google, and the states to ensure that voters have the official information they need to answer basic questions like "Where is my polling place?" What's on my ballot?" and "How do I navigate the voting process?"

Thanks to all who are voting, and to all the volunteers around the country. May the candidates that win, be those who care most for the people.
