Having for years been a registered voter in New York (even when I was not living there due to military service) I ended up in a strange situation of living in Ohio not on Active Duty. Ohio allows you to vote by mail (just as I had for years in the military) even though for the first three years there my polling place was the building next door. I found that so much easier than walking over standing in line to get the exact same ballot.
But things changed and due to a bad economy, a mobilization, and several other (mostly money) reasons we moved to Kentucky - the home town of my spouse and where I was finally able to get full time work after five years.
Boy, I don't like the voting system. You have to have a "good" reason to vote by mail. And working 0600 to 1800 for EMS is not a good reason. I've also not liked that the polling place I'm to vote at requires me to drive by two other polls to get to the one for my district.
I've been told to bring ID to vote and i'll see how picky they are. Personally i'm just looking forward to the phone not ringing all day long trying to get me to vote for/against people. (i'm on the do not call list for a reason, yes, I know political groups are exempt, but still i'm on the list for a reason.)
