Nights like these are when community matters most, I think. I'd like to thank Kos for providing this community space for us and to thank all our community members for supporting this space.
We obviously have so very much work to do for 2016. But we are all in this together.
I felt the community spirit here tonight and that uplifted me.
And without Kos, or this fantastic community, I don't know where any of us would be.
I also know that, together, we CAN and WILL make a difference going forward -- as we do and always have done.
This community has motivated me in so many ways over the past ten years and for that I am so very grateful.
It has been a sad and stunning night. Not just for Democrats, but even more for the constituencies we represent and for whom we speak and advocate.
As Onomastic wrote:
The Republicans have been playing the fear and hate card for decades. But since President Obama was first elected it has been ramped up to unprecedented heights.
Everyone who is not "them" has been demonized for years. Made the other - the poor, the unemployed, the disabled, people of color, the LGBT community, women, Liberals, Democrats, intellectuals. Fear and hate has been encouraged in constant, drumbeat fashion.
Here.
I could not possibly agree more.
But I also know this:
WE are their voices.
WE are them.
WE will come back, because we must.
I know this -- because I know this community and I trust and believe in it.
