Look, I get that a lot of us are extremely upset by what happened during last night's election and we are all thinking about the reasons about what went wrong. If we want to look at who actually voted last night, it becomes incredibly clear what went wrong.

In today’s midterms, 37% of voters are over the age of 60 but only 12% of are under 30 years old. This 25 point difference is larger than the 16 to 20 point age gap seen in the last three midterms.
The gap between the young and old generations of voters is wider then it has been in years, including the past 2010 election. Young voters are simply not turning out in the necessary amount for Democrats to pull off election victories. Polls that looked favorable towards us may have been using data from 2010 and didn't anticipate that more elderly would be voting then back in 2010 allowing the Republicans to win more races then we expected.
For people claiming Obama isn't progressive enough or some other reason, none of that matters unless our constituencies vote. It's why if somebody is claiming to see such a high turnout at a polling place, it shouldn't mean anything favorable towards us unless we see a bunch of college students as well. Any future GOTV operation needs to prioritize getting college students and young adults to the polls. If we fail to reclaim more Governor positions in 2018, we may end up getting stuck with gerrymandered districts for another decade, making the House of Representatives nearly hopeless to obtain.
That's my 2 cents.
