I don’t write diaries, I just comment from time to time. Looking back over the mess from Tuesday, I visited several websites and message boards to get a general sense of folks’ ideas of where to go from here and what others’ were suggesting. Follow me below the fold....
Some of the posts I found were these:
Alternet gave me “Will Democrats Try To Kill The Party's Progressive Wing To Regain Power?”
Moyers & Co gave me “ Corporate Triumphs, Progressive Victories and the Roadmap for a Democratic Revival"
The Washington Times gave me: “Progressives turn on Obama, plan to remake Democratic party ‘in Elizabeth Warren’s image’”
Our own LaFeminista gave me: “Dear Democratic Party Are You Ready to Fight Yet?”
In response to LaFeminista, I think first we need to make sure the Democratic party is something we want to fight for. Right now it looks a sorry mess.
So I looked at the Progressive Democrats of America website and and they are congratulating 11 of their endorsed candidates for winning on Tuesday.
What about supporting progressive democrats and their platform because that platform resonates with everyday folks. It seems as if it is beat down at every opportunity( Grijalva’s budget for instance)….except for last Tuesday. Progressives did better. In fact, it appears the Democrats that did not fully embrace whatever being a Democrat is, lost and lost big.
Just my two cents, but isn't it way past time time to go to the progressive side of our party…where we show HOW we actually support the things that matter to everyday people. That is really what got our President elected. And all of our candidates from dogcatcher to school board to mayor to governor to federal seats need to understand that platform, be able to state it and support, no, fight for it. Fire in the belly and don’t let the Republicans frame them or any DEM without immediate and concentrated pushback. Every time all the time. Power in a united platform that’s easy to understand. And CELEBRATE our successes, all the time every time. The first thing out of a Dem’s mouth should be the good things that Dems done to help the country. ALL the time.
And yes, running from the leader of the Democratic Party, for whatever reason, just doesn’t convey a winning message.
Just my two cents.
