Y'all come now, here?
Good day and welcome to
DKos Asheville. This is the weekly DKos Asheville open thread for Saturday November 8th. We try to get together every weekend to share with everyone what we're all up to in Western North Carolina and beyond. We hope this group serves to invigorate us locally and regionally here on Daily Kos, building on the sense of community that's grown through our online engagement. DKos Asheville can give us all a better sense of connection, a better understanding of who we stand with, work with, and share with. We hope this community can help leverage our orange passion for progressive politics to elect more and better Democrats.
Asheville and all of Western North Carolina are wonderful places to visit. We have a powerful progressive presence, both cultural and political, and for the most part everyone is really nice. And the views are breathtaking. If you've never been here, we promise you'll love it.
And speaking of visiting Asheville, we have exciting meet up news! Please join us below the beloved Orange Thingy to get the news.
What do DKos Asheville peeps do after suffering through a humiliating and devastating defeat at the polls? They get together in January at a really nice hotel in Asheville and spend two days, with a sleepover, plotting and planning what we can do between now and the next election to help right this creaky, leaky ship called the Democratic Party.
Can you imagine a Republican trifecta in 2016? I can and it ain't pretty.
This will be DKos Asheville's seventh meet up over the last few years. Over this time we have developed rich relationships, been inspired to register voters, have driven people to the polls, canvassed neighborhoods, and spent endless hours at phone banks. And we have built ourselves a network of like minded brothers and sisters who are in this fight for life. A place we can come to find inspiration, power, solace and community.
So please mark your calendars and plan on joining us for a wonderful weekend of camaraderie, inspiration, networking, fun, food and entertainment. Details below.

And good morning from Dave's house. Randall asked me to add something to today's diary, and I guess what comes to mind is taken from last Sunday's diary; the idea that we start where we are now, and move forward from here.
I suppose one of the things that we all have in common is service, that part of the reason we were drawn to Daily Kos was a search for a way to contribute to the world in which we live; a way to help others through the political process or through other paths that might open up for us through this community. In a way, each day begins anew; with each day we find our way forward, meeting with our world in ever changing, ever new situations. And as we move forward, we find new ways to contribute, new ways to be of service to this global family with whom we share this planet.
And as we do, as we give, selflessly, compassionately, we make our world better; better for those whom we touch directly, for those whom they in turn touch, and, rippling out as waves on a pond through space and time, for those who come after us, the future generations whose world we are creating each day.
This is what community is about; sharing, giving, creating together. And this is what being a progressive is about; working for social, economic, and environmental justice.
Each day we start from where we are now; and we move forward from here.
Enjoy your day!
