Just a quick thought - it seems to me the Obama Wars should be over now. The reason is as a political issue, Obama himself is over.
He's never running for office again.
There's little to accomplish substantively when he is faced with a fully GOP Congress.
In terms of nominations, if the lame duck Senate ain't confirming a nominee, then the nominee probably ain't worth nominating (in other words, any nominee the GOP Senate will approve after next January is probably a nominee a progressive would prefer not to see.)
Obama ran brilliant political campaigns but there's not much (beyond some technology innovations that no doubt have been incorporated) to translate to future campaigns.
Here's my point - if you're fighting about Obama, then it's because you enjoy fighting about Obama. Obama won't be very relevant to 2016.
If you're thinking about "what now?" then talking about Obama, pro or con, is a waste of time.
Unless you are a historian.
