Greetings, and welcome to another romp in the litterbox with fuzzy-headed Marko the Werelynx.
I was just marvelling at my little digital camera's odd handling of color. I'd posted a diary of odds and ends last week wherein I'd shared a photo of my latest oil painting in progress:
This week I took another photo of the painting after I'd managed to get back to working on it. I think you can detect some improvement despite the rather pronounced difference in the colors:
I'll keep working on it.
A brief bit of my blither below.
Last week I was off at a ball. I was not, unfortunately, dancing. I did, fortunately, drink some very good Moravian wine and take lots of bad photographs. Here are a couple of the more reasonable ones:
Last weekend was a weekend of walking. Mrs. the Werelynx and I went out for a couple of hours with a neighbor friend and her dog and on Sunday the Mrs. and I tried the sport of Nordic walking for the first time. The instructor was the maid-of-honor at our wedding. I suppose eventually I'll be preparing some photos to share from those two days. Today I just have a couple of details.
The little canyon or valley near our apartment is named after a geologist and pioneering palaeontologist mostly associated with all the trilobites he discovered near Prague. Now, I've always been fascinated by fossils and particularly trilobites so it was particularly pleasing for me to make a small discovery during my walks over the weekend:
And I didn't even bother to dig up that rock and take it home. I just took a photo of the fossil and left it lying where I'd found it. Perhaps someone else will discover it too.
How about some autumn leaves from my walk last Sunday?
And I'm afraid that it'll be a bit of a post and run tonight. I should be around off and on all weekend checking for new comments if you would be so kind as to leave some. Let me know what you're up to, how you're feeling, what's for dinner and all the other important happenings in your world.
It was an important week for friendships. After a lovely weekend of walks with friends I got a call from an old friend who had a problem he wanted to talk about over beers at our favorite little pub. The next day or two brought updates on the subject of our discussion that afternoon. It ended up being one of those very rare events in my life when someone sought out my advice and was actually grateful after receiving it.
This weekend I'll mostly be digging up my garden, turning over the soil weeds before the ground freezes. We managed to cut, split and stack a pretty good supply of firewood the last couple of weekends we made it out to the country. Once we get the yard and garden ready I think we can begin to look eagerly forward to getting some snow.
I'd hoped to post an update or two about the protest planned for Monday the 17th which is the aniversary of the Velvet Revolution. I wanted to be able to post the latest on the planned attendance for the protest against the continued embarrassment caused by bumbling Czech President Zeman, but I can't seem to access Facebook at all tonight. Czech television will be broadcasting an interview with two members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot over the weekend. I saw a clip from the interview on the news and there weren't any words of praise for Zeman's grasp of Russian politics from the bandmembers.
It should be an interesting week in the Czech Republic-- hopefully not too interesting.
I plan on getting a lot of drawing and painting done.
