I just received an email from Sen. Hirono on reforming FISA. "Today, the Senate will vote to stop the National Security Agency from collecting the phone records of millions of Americans."
As Progressives we need to show our support when our Progressive Senators actually try and pass legislation we agree with and ardently desire. Please sign the petition to pass the USA Freedom Act:

Reform FISA
The time is here. Tuesday evening, the full Senate will vote on whether to proceed to vote on the USA FREEDOM Act.
I signed it. If anything it is a start in reclaiming lost civil liberties.
This bill represents what the New York Times referred to as "a breakthrough in the struggle against the growth of government surveillance power." If passed, it will:
•End the overly broad data collection program by the NSA;
•Increase transparency of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Court decision-making;
•Reform the FISA Court by appointing a special panel of civil liberties and privacy advocates to the court;
•Protect Americans' communications collected under FISA;
•Allow companies to disclose information regarding FISA requests, and;
•Impose new and stricter sunsets on surveillance authorities.
It’s absolutely crucial that we pass this bill now, before the next Congress convenes. Will you call on the Senate to pass this bill?
Signed by:
Sen. Martin Heinrich
Sen. Mazie Hirono (HI)
Sen. Patrick Leahy (VT)
Sen. Chuck Schumer (NY)
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (RI)
