When House Republicans chose their committee heads, mysteriously,
20 out of 21 were men. That's one woman, if you do the math. But no worries, according to Majority Whip Steve Scalise:
“Well, as part of leadership, we have a lot of women in our leadership team,” Scalise said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” when asked about the near-total absence of women in committee top spots.
Aside from committee chairs—sorry, committee chair, singular—Republicans
have Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers as conference chair. Novel definition of "a lot" Scalise has there.
