So this past Monday I had an interview at Office Depot for a Logistics Specialist position and my hunch was right on the money. In short, it's shipping. Dealing with heavy boxes and doing a lot on one's feet. Unfortunately for someone with back and leg problems like I have that isn't doable so I had to pass on that one.
Strangely enough the manager who interviewed thought I was going for a tech associate position based on my resume. It seems to make sense since I have experience repairing computers and such. No such position was open at that location so I'll have to try again.
I was talking with my mother in law about this and she keeps telling me that 'the right job will come along'. I don't believe there's any such thing as the right job because people my age either can't find employment or are stuck with shit jobs and shittier wages while living in our parents' basement or house.
She also wants me to stick with this whole photo thing even though I have absolutely no interest in business whatsoever. I guess there's no choice left because Florida is a dead state when it comes to any employment at all in my field and leaving isn't an option.
I'll also keep humoring the employment specialist even though I know full well she's not going to find anything within a short distance of my home. Defeatist? Maybe, but it's the truth. This is Brevard County, after all, and it may as well be the biggest retirement community on the east coast of Florida.
See you around,
Homer
